About Us
Who We Are
Pause Data Centers is a community-led advocacy effort by Prince William County residents who believe that responsible development requires honest answers — before the bulldozers arrive.
Why We Exist
Our Mission
We are not anti-technology and we are not anti-development. We are pro-process. Prince William County sits on 43% watershed land. The Occoquan Reservoir supplies drinking water to hundreds of thousands of Northern Virginia residents. The decisions being made today — approving data center after data center without completing required environmental studies — will have consequences that last for generations.
Our mission is simple: demand that the county follow its own rules. Complete the water quality studies. Conduct the air quality assessments. Model the grid impacts. Hold the public hearings. Then, and only then, make decisions about industrial development in one of the most ecologically sensitive areas in the region.
What We Stand For
Our Principles
Water First
The Occoquan Reservoir is irreplaceable. We will not accept development that puts our drinking water at risk without a full accounting of the consequences.
Community Voice
Residents deserve a genuine seat at the table — not a rubber-stamp public hearing after decisions have already been made behind closed doors.
Accountability
We hold elected officials and county staff to the standards they set for themselves. If a study is required, it must be completed. No exceptions.
Transparency
We publish what we find. Every document, every vote, every approval — the public has a right to know what is being decided in their name.
